Following training from a young age as a classical pianist and vocalist with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Dec moved into musical direction, including serving as musical director for Regent's Park College Chapel Choir, Oxford, and for internationally acclaimed a cappella group, Oxford Out Of The Blue. During this tenure, Dec led the group on tours to the USA, Spain, and France, as well as two full length runs at the Edinburgh Fringe, and recorded two albums.

    • 30 sessions per year, split into 3 x 10 week terms. We roughly follow school terms and you can see a list of our upcoming term dates under 'Term Dates' above.

    • The option to go along to one of our other Show Choir rehearsals if you can’t make your usual session - we do the same material with all groups - and to double or triple up on performance weeks (to get a bit of extra practice in!).

    • Each term, you will learn fabulous new songs as well as rehearse some old favourites, from a variety of musical theatre shows, all in a cappella and all arranged exclusively for Show Choir.

    • Scores and practise MP3 tracks for all our songs, perfect for a singalong in the car!

    • Each term, there will be at least one performance opportunity, from concerts, to busks, to video shoots and festival performances. It’s never compulsory to perform, but we love our members to get as involved as much as possible.

    • Access to hundreds of hours of online video coaching content through Show Choir GOLD.

    • The opportunity to take part in a ‘big trip’! Past trips have included performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the Derry Choral Festival, international choir exchanges and the Manchester Amateur Choral Competition (please note trips carry an extra cost).

    • A huge part of Show Choir is making friends! Each term, there will be a minimum of one social opportunity – everything from trips to the theatre, to meals out, to karaoke nights and more!

    • Membership to our closed Facebook group and unofficial WhatsApp group – great social platforms for all things Show Choir!

  • Yes! Anyone over the age of 18 is welcome to join Show Choir.

  • No, we don’t hold auditions. We believe strongly in the importance of group singing and know that auditions would be off-putting to lots of people.

  • Although we work from scores, you don’t need to be able to read music in order to join us.

The score is there as a guide (you’ll be surprised how quickly you pick up following it!) and we still teach everything from scratch, by ear.

  • Following a FREE trial session, Show Choir membership is £29.99 per month (£26.99 concessionary rate*) payable monthly via direct debit.

On the date that you sign up you'll be charged for the remaining sessions in that month, if applicable, and then the normal monthly subscription on the 1st of every month thereafter.

*Our concessionary rate is available to full-time students, anyone in receipt of a state pension and anyone receiving universal credit or incapacity allowance.

  • Yes, but we strongly recommend joining as early in the term as possible – each session builds on the last and we always work towards an end-of-term event or performance, so the sooner you join, the better!

  • Show Choir GOLD is our incredible online learning resources platform, exclusive to Show Choir.

As a Show Choir member, you get unlimited access to a library of videos, on everything from vocal technique to music theory, maintaining vocal health to performance technique.

Explore hundreds of hours of tutorials from West End stars, internationally renowned vocal tutors, performance psychologists and more!

  • Yes. We aggregate the cost across a whole year, so monthly payments represent a year’s choir membership divided by twelve.

But don’t worry! While rehearsals might pause in and around school holidays, we still offer performance opportunities and social activities throughout the year. There’s plenty of opportunities to get your Show Choir fix!

  • We don’t offer membership pauses - the monthly payments reflect your membership to Show Choir.

However, if you find yourself experiencing special circumstances (illness/compassionate grounds) please do talk to us :-)

  • We hope you don’t! But if you would like to leave, we simply ask for one month’s notice.

  • We love it when old members return – our door is always open (as long as we have a space available in your choir/group)!

We just ask for a small £15 admin fee before re-starting your monthly direct debit.
